Dreaming

We are 6-7 weeks away from J making his appearance (I'm assuming he's going to show up between 36 and 37 weeks because I really don't think I can handle more than that!!).

As a result, I am day dreaming of all the foods I will be able to eat again after he's born and the HG goes away. (No joke, sometimes when I'm trying to fall asleep, I imagine eating these foods. It's amazing.)

I am dreaming of:
tomatoes
Coca-Cola
chicken
steak/beef
salad
pizza
ice cream
Samoas (I have 6 boxes sitting in my dining room... just waiting...)
Peanut Butter M&M's
Mexican food (oh man, tacos, nachos, chimis, burritos, enchiladas, tostadas...)
spaghetti
really, any type of pasta
Sushi
chocolate
fruit (strawberries, apples, peaches, raspberries, etc.)
spinach and artichoke dip
avocado
water

When your diet consists mainly of potatoes and bread, you realize how much you miss other foods (you can only do so much with potatoes and bread)! Sometimes, I'm lucky to sneak a veggie in (like a little zucchini or green beans) or a bite (literally, a singular bite) of meat but that's not very often.

In the mean time, I'll pin recipes on Pinterest and dream of the not to distant future when I can eat them!!! Eat them all!!!!

Maximizing Space

With J coming soon (anytime from 7-11 weeks from now), we've been trying to get our house in order and maximize the space we have in our 2 bedroom apartment. Each bedroom has 2 closets. We were using the 2nd bedroom as an office/storage room. But with J coming and needing a bedroom and all, we've done some rearranging.

Our office is now in a closet!

We took the closet doors off, wedged a bookshelf between the two sides (since there's no divider built in), bought a desk for $20 on Craigslist, and we're making it work! The only things I bought were the bookshelf (but that's really for J...from IKEA) desk, the 3 opening frame (Target clearance), the white board (well, it's actually blue...Target clearance), and then 11x14 frame (Target clearance). My sewing stuff and other crafting stuff all fit on the shelf above, which is great, and my sewing machine fits in one of the desk nook things. I like the bright, primary colors of our new office and that it's not overly girly or boyish (since it's in J's room).
The other side of the closet is perfect for J's stuff and the bookshelf gives me even more storage for J (I feel like I always need more storage space!).

I've already used my awesome new office space for paying bills (super exciting, I know) and working on my RS lesson and I love it!

Out of obstacles and limitations comes the greatest creativity!

Good News, Everyone!

I had a doctors appointment today. I was really nervous. I love my OB/GYN, but for some reason, I was really afraid I was going to get scolded for get bad news about something.

This pregnancy has been difficult and with all of the complications of my hyperemesis, I worry that J isn't getting everything that he needs. I was looking at photos of myself at my 6 month mark and comparing them to several other ladies at the same mark and I'm so tiny! I couldn't help but think I'm doing something wrong! And when I hear about other women's experiences with pregnancy, I sometimes think I missed the Pregnancy 101 class that certifies you to have a normal-person pregnancy.

Anyway, I was nervous. And my doctor could totally tell.

He measured me and, here's the good news, I'm measuring perfect! J is the perfect size! He's head down and super active! So even though I am still 10 pounds lighter than where I was at the start of this pregnancy, J is getting what he needs and growing as he should.

Dr also said that he would deliver me as early as 36 weeks. That's only 7 weeks away! I mean, we want J to stay inside and grow as healthy and strong as possible, but knowing that there is a definite end in sight is wonderful!

And, I'm getting a permanent IV line (PICC line) in on Friday morning. That means I get get hydrated whenever I need, not just when my keytones are off the chart. :)

Physically, today was no better than any other day. But emotionally, I'm in such a better place! It's amazing what that does for my energy and confidence levels.

As difficult as this pregnancy has been, there have been so many tender mercies throughout and I am so grateful!

Is it an Alien??

In high school, we would joke that when we were hungry our hunger felt like an alien coming out of our stomach (complete with sound effects).

Freshman year of college, my good friend A would blame everything on the aliens.

Now, I really do feel like I have an alien inside of me that I can blame everything on!!

But, seriously, one of the weirdest things in the world is watching my stomach move involuntarily when J kicks and flips. I thought it was weird when I could just feel it. But now it's like a double whammy!!

My adorable little alien baby boy keeps me quiet entertained as I stare at my stomach in wonderment and amazement.

And sometimes, I get a few precious moments where I don't feel like I've been hit by the longest-and-heaviest-nausea/vomit-inducing train ever and I can just enjoy his little kicks and twists.
Those are the moments I hold on to when I feel like I can't take another minute of this pregnancy.
Those moments are total tender mercies that I thank Heavenly Father for.

A quote

"Any problem that can be solved with money is not really a problem at all. Pay the money, and be glad that your problems can be solved with money."

Someone tell my husband that this is true :)
