Quirks...Pass It On

Rules:
1.Link who tagged you: Amanda
2. List your quirks
3. Tag other bloggers
4. Post the rules on your blog.

1. I am a nail bitter. Especially when I'm nervous, stressed, scared, anxious, etc. If you see me biting my nails, I am probably dwelling in one of those states.

2. I can't watch 24 (the TV show) or too many episodes of Law and Order or CSI in a row because then I can't sleep. It freaks me out because I start thinking that it's all going to happen to me.

3. I have to have things clean before I can study and my school stuff is all extremely organized. My house however, not so much.

4. I get nervous making phone calls. Mostly when I'm calling people I don't know very well.

5. I eat my foods one at a time. For example, if I have a salad, a side and a main dish on a plate, I will eat them one at a time. Similarly, I eat my M&M's and Skittles by color.

6. I hate bugs. Especially when they're in my house.

7. I sleep better during the day than I do at night. Random town, I know.

8. I hate cleaning bathtubs, but don't mind cleaning toilets. Again, random. Good thing Dustin will clean the bathtub for me.

9. I don't like wearing makeup. Unfortunately, I don't like the way I look without it... bad news bears.

10. I sleep with a teddy bear. He's red and named Snuggles. Dustin made him for me on Valentines Day when we were dating. Awesome.

11. I hate drinking milk. I love ice cream and I love drinkable yogurts, but I hate drinking milk. And, I say "melk" instead of milk. I think it's a midwest thing?

12. I frequently wonder what people say about me when I'm not around.

Ok, I'm done. But now I'm sure I'll spend the next day or two thinking about my quirks. Maybe I'll even add to the list!
I promise, though, I am mostly normal. :)

I tag: whoever reads this blog.

TGIF!!

Truth: I dislike my bedroom.
Truth: It feels stale and cold and I don't like spending time in it.
Truth: That is not good for my <3 life.

Dear world, this is my plea - help me re-vamp my bedroom so that it's a place I like to be in! It feels stale, unwelcoming, blah. Not good things for a bedroom! (esp. when you're married)

Here's what it looks like in its current state:
Help me, please?
please?

Really? really.

i am really grateful for my husband who understands that it's ok for me, and for him, to have friends apart from one another. i'm grateful my husband understands that i can't always talk to him about theatre stuff (even though he's a fantastic listener) and i'm grateful he understands that he can't always talk to me about EMT stuff (because it grosses me out). i'm grateful that we both understand that we're not breaking our temple covenants to have friends besides each other. we are each other's best friends and understand that we both have needs we cannot completely fill. so, we put each other's needs first and let one another have friends. and we're still completely loyal to one another and at the end of the day, we couldn't imagine having married anyone else.

i think it's ridiculous that i got an email today about how one of my good friends can't ever communicate with me about anything anymore because he's married.

really? really.

i'm grateful for my husband.

Motherhood? What?

1. I had a crazy dream last night. I was in my old house in Michigan in the garage with my mom. She gave birth to twins. Immediately after, I also gave birth to twins.

wtf?

I told me mom and she laughed hysterically. It won't happen.

2. In my religion class, we were talking about the roles of mothers today. It was emphasized how mothers should not work and should stay home.
Ok, great. I agree.
To a point....

I think I'm more of an exception to the rule because if I were to stay home all the time, I could go crazy and not be a good mother and my kids would hate me. Seriously. I have learned that I need to be doing something outside to fulfill me before I can do anything to meet the needs of anyone else.

M. Russell Ballard said, "find some time for yourself to cultivate your gifts and interests. Pick one or two things that you would like to learn or do that will enrich your life, and make time for them. Water cannot be drawn from an empty well, and if you are not setting aside a little time for what replenishes you, you will have less and less to give to others, even to your children" in April 2008 conference. And I have a testimony of that statement.

For me, that will be working in a theatre, probably only part time, but still working outside of the home on something theatrical.

Hope my religion teacher doesn't think I'm going to hell for that. I swear it's for the best interest of my far-away-in-the-future children. But the whole time he was talking about how all women should be at home always, I kept thinking, "oh man, if only you knew me."

Socially Retarded

Sometimes I think I'm socially retarded.

Let me explain: I hate social gatherings where I'm not completely comfortable with everyone. I feel this weird need to be loud and I feel like a bumbling idiot. I often come home in a really bad mood because all I can think about are the stupid things I said or did. The worst is probably conducting Relief Society. Which I had to do today. Awesome.

Tonight I broke out of my social awkwardness a little, I think. Our neighbors J and M had me and D over for dinner along with another couple. We'd been to dinner with all of these people before and I'm sure I had left stellar impressions. I was nervous. Anxious, if you will.

But it wasn't bad! I didn't make a complete fool of myself! I didn't walk away from dinner feeling like I could never look those people in the eyes again! I think it's because all of the people there are really mellow. It rubbed off on me or something.

Which got me to thinking, what if I were a mellow, calm person. Sometimes I am. Not often, but sometimes. What if I was like that all the time!?

I quickly dismissed the thought and realized I would go insane. :)

Not quite the end of the world

Bethany and Amanda came over for dinner a couple of weeks ago, which was much needed and much appreciated. We were talking about things that we always talk about. Because we're tight like that. They both tease me about being pregnant. Probably because I so strongly say that I am not pregnant nor will I be in the near future. But Amanda (at least I think it was Amanda) asked me what if I did get pregnant in the near future. I thought for a moment and realized that it wouldn't be the end of the world. It would actually be ok.

This is a huge breakthrough for me! Before now, I have been extremely opposed to getting pregnant. I am the girl who wants to be a mom, but not for another 5-6 years. I've got stuff to work out first, things that I need to take care of and do before any of that mom stuff can happen. If you had asked me a year ago what I would happen if I were to get pregnant, I would've gone off on how it would've been the end of the world and life would be over etc.

I am not announcing by any means that I want to be pregnant right now. Neither D or I want to start expanding our little Wheeler family for another 4-5 years. We've got a plan (which I'm sure is very entertaining to the Lord) and we're doing to stick to it. We both graduate in April. Dustin will start paramedic school and I'll go work somewhere and make bank (ha!) and then go to grad school. Then we'll settle down in the Sacramento area and then have kids.

But it would be ok now. Not ideal. And I probably wouldn't be happy about it, at least not for a long while. But ok.
