After a long absence...

I know, I know. You all missed me so much. :)

Here's what's happened/happening:

- I started meds. The first month was really rough, but things have smoothed out and I'm actually doing pretty well right now. I also started reading a book called Feeling Good or something like that and, while I didn't like it at first, I have grown to appreciate the principles it's teaching me about recognizing my own thought patterns and correcting them with more logical thought patterns.

- We moved. That is a huge factor in why I'm doing so well right now, I think. We now rent a 2bd apartment (so come and visit!) and, from the moment we first moved in, it really feels like home in a way the home-sweet-trailerhome never did. It feels so good to have our own place and space! I really feel so much more peace and calm in my life than I have since we moved out here (so much so that I haven't bitten my nails since we moved!!!).

- I got a promotion at work! I start training for my promotion at the end of June, so until then I'm learning as much as I can hands-on in the store. I'm super exited and grateful, and a little anxious, for this opportunity. (And it means I need to buy new clothes...darn.)

- D moved to day shifts at work so we actually see each other now for more than an hour a day. He gets off at 3:30 and I get off at 6:15 so that leaves us the whole evening to spend together! When I asked him what he would do with his new-found free time, he got a really confused look on his face. He hasn't had free time since...before his mission? He has worked so hard to go to school and work and hasn't had much time to enjoy any hobbies or anything. So, since the weather is maybe going to be getting nice sometime soon, D will probably spend some time frisbee golfing or something.

Ok, I think that covers it. Now that we have internet at our apartment (again, it's a 2 bd. apartment so come visit!!), I should be able to post like a good, little blogger again.

Until next time...

  2. Is the book by a guy named Robert Burns? If so, I read his book "Intimate Connections." It applies the same thought changing principles. I'm trying to do it more.

P.S. This is Laura Slack (my maiden name) from BYU 129th ward :)
