When my momma and youngest siblings came, they completely scrubbed down my house. D and I aren't dirty people, but we have a dog and, since being put on bed rest, a lot of the house chores have fallen by the wayside.
Well, they left and I realized I still have several weeks to go in this pregnancy! I want to keep the house looking and feeling as clean and fresh as my family worked so hard to make it! I didn't want to have to go into panic mode right before J was born (or after he was born) because our home had slipped in to disarray again because of our neglect.
I found this on Pinterest:
and it has been a life saver! Some of the daily things we don't have to do daily, like take out the trash or empty the dishwasher, since it's just the two of us. And the bed doesn't get made every day because I'm often in it all day. But so far, we have been such good eggs at keeping our house all clean thanks to this daily assignment thing! It's easier for us to have a daily break-down instead of feeling like we have to get everything done all at once. And, I must say, D has been a champ about doing all the things that I can't do - he scrubs the tub, mops the floors, takes out the trash etc. I wipe down the counters. And sometimes empty/load the dishwasher. And I do laundry. That's about it. :)Anyway, I don't know if this daily chore calendar will help any of you, but it has made a huge difference for us!
It's so much easier to keep a clean house clean than to scrub a dirty house clean!
Makes a huge difference for us and now that Sophie is older, she knows what to expect every morning. She is starting to help, too! She enjoys being handed a dust cloth and "dusting" everything :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you ROCK! I don't think I would have any motivation to keep going with house maintenance with everything you've been dealing with.
