Apartment living means that you don't always have all the luxuries that you would want in a home.
Lately, all I have wanted to eat/drink/consume is crushed ice.
We don't have an ice maker thing in our freezer or an ice dispenser thingy in our fridge.
We do, however, have ice trays. And ziploc bags. And a hammer.
So, when I want crushed ice, a tray of ice cubes gets dumped in a ziploc bag and smashed to bits with the hammer!
Delicious.
And therapeutic.
I wonder what our neighbors think when it's after midnight and they hear something being smashed repeatedly...
Ooh, Landon, you make me smile!! When my mom was pregnant with my youngest brother, she was the same way. Guess who had the ice chip-making job? The back porch, me, a wide heavy duty rubber mallet, a dish cloth (I got overly zealous once and destroyed an entire bag) and so much ice! If you have space in your freezer, I would recommend smashing away until the ice is the size you prefer and then laying it out on a plate that can be slipped into a gallon-size bag so you can enjoy your ice late at night without exerting too much energy.
