S stayed with me for 2 and a half weeks. It was a really sudden trip - i.e. "L, can Shaine come and stay with you?" "Yes." "Great, she'll land tonight at 10:40!" It came at a great time! While she was here, I learned more about what my recovery from my pregnancy condition (HG) would be like (it takes 1-2 months for your body to recover for every 1 month that you were sick) and that was incredibly discouraging. I was also struggling to find some sort of balance between being a mom, taking care of myself (eating, exercising, sleeping), being a wife, being a good daughter of God. S did a lot to help me find hope and more balance.
S did a lot to help me take care of J. She took him nearly every morning so I could get a couple more hours of sleep (I haven't been sleeping well at all and have been constantly exhausted - part of the recovery from HG). She also took me running almost every night - just around the apartment complex at least once, but each loop is 2/3 of a mile. She watched J while I taught piano and voice lessons. She and I had lots of conversations about testimonies and our relationships with God and how to serve and love others.
S left this morning to go back to Oregon. I'm a super sad panda and miss her already. S is one of my best friends and favorite people (right after D). Because of what she taught me this week, D and I went out tonight and I bought a real pair of running shoes. Mizuno Wave Inspire 8. In honor of her, they're bright teal (she runs in ridiculously bright colors). I also found a schedule to get me from my loop around the apartment complex to 5k distance in 10 weeks. (Hopefully, this will help the HG recovery, too.)
My balance still isn't perfect.
I still have a long way to go in a lot of areas.
But, S helped me a ton while she was here!
And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go running. :)
that was a sweet post :o)
