Happiness is...

On my way home from work today I stopped at McD's for a large Coke with no ice (for $1.08).

I went through the drive thru and the line was ridiculous! (Our McD's has 2 lanes to place your order in and one lane to pick up your order - just to give you a better mental picture.) It was moving reeeeeeeeally slow (I was in line for 15 min, I wish I was exaggerating) and I could see the people in the other cars getting really irritated.

When I got to the window to pay, I don't know what possessed me, but I decided to pay for the person behind me as well (and the kid at the window was like uh, really?).

Suddenly, I didn't care that I had waited so long for my coke (that I didn't really need) or that I was still in my work clothes and had to go to the bathroom. I was just so excited to look in the rear-view mirror and see the lady's face behind me! (For the record, she was really confused and that's all I saw as I drove away.)

I don't know who she is, if she had kids in the car, what her order was, whatever. It didn't matter. It felt so good to do something for someone else, totally unprompted, with no expectation of reward or even gratitude!

I've decided to be more aware of what is going on around me so I can find more opportunities to do things for others.
I don't mean for this to be a go me post, but I just felt so good after doing something so small that I just thought it'd be fun to pass it on 'cause who doesn't like to feel good? :)
