Mom's Day

Today is mother's day (if you live under a rock and didn't know) and I don't want to write a post about mother's day out of obligation, but because I have some incredible mothers in my life! :)

My mom is amazing.
It's because of her that I wanted to go to college, don't measure when I cook, serve in the church, pay my tithing, love music, know how to take care of sick people (including myself), try to find what I can learn from difficult situations, know the importance of a good night of sleep, know how to work hard, budget and know how to live on less, know the difference between needs and wants, know how to drive, know how to edit papers and do my homework, know how to braid, know how to hunt for bargains, keep a calendar, know how to shop for groceries, have a testimony, go to the temple, pray, read scriptures, love my husband, and tackle difficult challenges with a brave face.
I can confidently say that my mom has shaped me into the woman I am today.
I could tell millions of stories of what an amazing teacher my mom has been to me, but I'll spare you all. She has been my friend, cheerleader, nurse, life-coach, laughed and cried with me, and been the best mom.
I love you, Mom!

And then there's my mom-in-law.
She has raised the best man that I know. Her support and guidance have made him the man he is today, and for that I am eternally grateful. My MIL has shared her testimony with me so many times, I've watched her study her scriptures and pray even when she is exhausted and in pain. She is the anchor of her family, constant and strong. I am grateful to be a part of her family and to have many years to learn from her.
I love you, G!

I have been very blessed to have other wonderful mom-figures in my life as well. Women and friends who I admire and want to be like. I am so grateful for these examples.
I am grateful for the women who let me hold and snuggle their babies, grateful for the women who are at church every Sunday with all of their children, grateful for the women who don't hesitate to share their testimonies because they live their testimonies, grateful for the women who love being a mom, grateful for the women who mom me while my mom is far away.

I want to be a mother so badly and I can't wait for that day to arrive.
In the mean time, I will continue to love and learn from the mothers in my life.

Happy Mother's Day!
