Thanks to pinterest, I often yearn for a different wardrobe.
While pregnant and on bed rest, all I wore was sweats and t-shirts.
Now that I'm feeling more like a human again, I've been going through my dresser and closet trying to piece together a workable wardrobe.
To say my body changed while pregnant would be putting it mildly. Clothes that fit pre-pregnancy don't really fit the same now. Since I'm teaching piano and voice 3 days a week, I need to present myself a little more professionally than wearing sweats, which are the only pants I have left after my jeans shredded themselves to pieces a couple weeks ago.
But, I've also started running and eating better in an attempt to be healthier and speed my recovery from HG. I'm anticipating that my body is going to be changing (hopefully slimming) as a result of my hard work. I needed to add a few pieces to my wardrobe, but didn't want to spend a ton because the pieces would be temporary.
Thank goodness for some serious Labor Day sales!
At Old Navy I found some seriously great jeans for $10.
I also found a great brown/cream top for $5, but I can't find a picture of it.
At Target I found some seriously great pants for $7 each.
An adorable cardigan for $7
Awesome pewter sandals for $7
At Downeast, I found this great white blouse for $20
At Kohls, I found a grey blazer (that I can't find a picture of) for $15 and an awesome brown belt for $12 (that I also can't find a picture of).
I also found a great deal on Facebook for The Printable Cottage. There have been these pictures of bubble necklaces from J Crew popping up all over pinterest. But the ones at J Crew are $150 - no joke. The deal I found on Facebook was for a bubble necklace for $9.99 and free shipping.
So, what the heck! I got one in Navy blue. Might as well jump on the trendy train for at least a little bit! :)
I'm hoping to do some "What I Wore" posts in the future as I try to make my wardrobe more functional. (I have to remember it's about versatility, not quantity - a fuller closet isn't a better one.)
Are there any "go to" pieces that you recommend or love? Shoes, tops, skirts, dresses, accessories that you love and can't live without? Pieces that work really well multiple ways?

I totally agree with (and need to better apply) that a fuller closet is not a happier closet. I'm all about having a great pair of jeans. I haven't gone through pregnancy, but I did put on the just married weight that's pretty common and I started running to get rid of it (running totally works, just be diligent and patient!!). Anyway, when I finished my training for my half marathon I found a great pair of jeans from the Gap. They weren't cheap (they're $69.95, the real straight cut) but I wear them almost daily. LOVE THEM. They were pricey but I think it's worth it if you're going to wear the crap out of them. But maybe make the expensive dream jeans a reward to getting into the shape you want :) That was my method.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that was a long comment. I love you! And I love clothes. So you + clothes means I'll stalk you even more!
Oh, and I LOVE cardigans and your new purple one is awesome. Love it.
