Thanksgiving Vacation

Tomorrow morning we leave for 6 days in Aptos.

After Aptos, we are going to the Bay for 4 days.

That's 10 days of traveling with a 6 month old (who just had his 6 month shots today).

I haven't started packing because I don't even know where to begin!

How many diapers should I bring?
How much formula?
How much food?
How many changes of clothes?
How many toys should I bring?
How many bottles/bowls/spoons will be enough?
How many burp cloths/bibs/blankets/binks will he need?
What size suitcase is appropriate?

I did make a little progress - I got his Thanksgiving outfit out of the closet.
And laundry is done.

Any of you travel pros have any tips for me?
You know, other than get off your butt and do something?

  1. Traveling when Brandon was that age and on formula was CRAZY. Plus, we were staying in hotels, so I'd have to wash all his bottle stuff in the little bathroom sink. We found out the second day that the tub's water pressure is better for getting out all the soap. Bud had a whole day of soapy bottles!! Haha. Whoops.

Just start by planning how much stuff you'd need for one day. Then go from there. Breathe. :)

And really, my best advice is to not worry too much about just winging it. One day at Death Valley I only brought one clean bottle so we just had to rinse it and use it over again all day. He survived. :) You'll do awesome. Good luck!

  2. Our best advice after spending 6 weeks on the road with our 6 month old: remember that they do have stores most everywhere you go. That and have fun with it. Bradley spent more time looking around and being fascinated by all of his new surroundings than he did being fussy.
