We scored the bookshelf at a garage sale across the street from our house. $15 for a solid oak bookshelf in great condition that matches everything perfectly!

Some landlords don't mind if you paint, as long as you paint it back to white when you leave. It's worth asking.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, there's also a neat trick where you can cover a wall with fabric using cornstarch and water to make a glue. When you leave, you just run a wet sponge over the wall and it peels off! Here's a link:
