Bedroom update!

Dustin and I had a pretty rock-awesome Saturday! I was feeling unmotivated so Dustin and I took a trip to Ross, TJMaxx, and Walmart. The result = I probably did not get as much done as I needed to academically... but that's ok because I made up for it in how much I got done re-vamping my bedroom!

Here's the proof!
We scored the bookshelf at a garage sale across the street from our house. $15 for a solid oak bookshelf in great condition that matches everything perfectly!

Close up on my new book shelf!

We scored this painting at Ross! $30! Dustin was the one who found it, I loved it and it now hangs above the dresser!

There's still more on my "to do" list for the bedroom:
  • little box things from Ikea to go on bookshelf
  • tall fake plant in large vase for floor by dresser or on the dresser...not sure yet...
  • pillows for bed
I would love to paint a wall in the bedroom, but I don't know how that would go over with our landlord, so it probably won't happen. But, these small changes have already made me love my bedroom so much more!!

Keep the suggestions coming!

  1. My suggestion: candles.

P.S. I need blog help! You know the little "cutest blog on the block" icon that you have in the upper left-hand corner of your blog? How do I move mine up there? Mine's in the middle of my post!

  2. Some landlords don't mind if you paint, as long as you paint it back to white when you leave. It's worth asking.

That being said, there's also a neat trick where you can cover a wall with fabric using cornstarch and water to make a glue. When you leave, you just run a wet sponge over the wall and it peels off! Here's a link:

    It's looking great so far!
